Consisting of more than 600 islands, the Bahamas gives you the opportunity to easily explore more than one island during one stay. However, your villa may just be too nice to abandon for an entire day!
INTRODUCTION
Located at what would be the third and easternmost point of a triangle linking Florida and Cuba, the Commonwealth of the Bahamas consists of 29 different islands and thousands of cays & rocks spread over an area twice the size of England or Alabama. It is home to the third largest barrier reef system in the world and as one would expect, is a mecca for divers.
It is highly likely that the islands were discovered by Christopher Columbus in 1492, but it wasn’t until the 17th century that Puritan pilgrims from Bermuda became the first permanent settlers from Europe. Over the years, the islands have been a refuge for pirates, including the notorious Blackbeard; they have been fought over by the British, U.S and Spanish navies and have welcomed loyalists fleeing the American War of Independence as well as emancipated slaves from Africa. This cultural cooking pot has subsequently become one of the most popular destinations in the Caribbean; people from far and wide are still drawn to beautiful luxury villas in the Bahamas, endless pink sand beaches, glassy water and the opportunity to wander whilst hardly seeing another soul.
The gateway and capital, Nassau, is located on the island of New Providence and is home to 70% of the population. Here you can enjoy an elegant juxtaposition of old and new. Take a tour of the old Georgian streets by horse-drawn cart, explore designer boutiques and lively markets, amble around galleries or indulge in fine cuisine.
Our luxury villas in the Bahamas, are located on the island of Eleuthera, 50 miles east of New Providence. Eleuthera is a delicate thread of land, only a mile across at some points, yet over 100 miles long, resulting in mile upon and mile of perfect beach, many deserted, and all gently lapped by the most translucent water you are ever likely to see.

The official language of The Bahamas is English, more British than American, and generally intertwined with a special Bahamian dialect.
The Bahamian dollar is held on par with the U.S. dollar and both are accepted throughout the islands. Credit cards and travellers cheques are accepted at most locations on Nassau/Paradise Island and Grand Bahama Island. +PLUS and Cirrus ATMs can be found at banks on Nassau/Paradise Island, Grand Bahama Island and on most of the major islands.
Tip according to quality of service. Bellboys and porters usually receive $1 per bag, while most other servers (waiters, taxis, etc.) receive 15%. Many establishments include gratuity in the total, so make sure you check your bill to see if it’s been added.
British rules apply, so drive on the left. Visitors may use their home licences for up to three months and may also apply for an international driver's licence. Pedestrians should remember to look right before crossing streets.
The trade winds that blow almost continually throughout the Bahamas give the islands a warm, climate that varies little year-round. The coldest time is between September and May, when the temperature averages 70-75°F. The rest of the year is a bit warmer with temperatures averaging between 80-90°F.
Electrical outlets in the Bahamas are 60 cycles/120 volts, which is compatible with all U.S. appliances. British and European appliances require a flat two-pin adaptor and 220-volt converter.
Casual summer wear can be worn during the day any time of the year; but be sure to bring a jacket or sweater for cooler evenings from December to February. Most hotels/restaurants/casinos require jackets for men in the evening, especially in more cosmopolitan areas, such as Nassau and Freeport/Lucaya.
