INTRODUCTION
Part of St. Vincent & the Grenadines, Mustique is a small island totalling just 1400 acres in the eastern Caribbean. Regardless of its diminutive size it still manages to attract big names, including notable film and rock stars, and even royalty, no doubt its secluded nature and luxury reputation appealing to them. Our great portfolio of luxury villas in Mustique offers a true escape from the everyday hustle and bustle of life, and makes your Mustique villa holiday one to remember.

The island, once a family estate, is now a company-owned destination focused on preserving its pristine environment and fascinating flora and fauna for future generations. Walking trails can be found zigzagging the island, and nature lovers will enjoy spotting unusual native species amongst the exotic vegetation. The population of approximately five hundred more than doubles in peak season with the influx of visitors, however the calm and serene atmosphere remains and it’s easy to see why we strongly recommend luxury villas in Mustique rentals.
The history of the island dates back to the 15th century when Spanish sailors spotted a group of islands on the horizon, and due to their flock-like appearance they named the islands ‘Los Pájaros’ or ‘The Birds’. The name Grenadines was subsequently adopted in the 17th century by pirates who sought refuge for themselves and their captured treasure in the enclosed bays. European settlers were the next to arrive and established sugar beet plantations, but the only evidence of this that can now be found on the island is a sugar mill at ‘Endeavor’. After only approximately 100 years scrubland had been allowed to take over the long-since abandoned plantations, until the mid 20th century when the Glenconner family started to sympathetically redevelop the island.
More than half a century later the island is a beautifully preserved idyll, mainly welcoming visitors from December to April. The eclectic architecture, mainly made up of private Mustique villa rentals, offers the visitor their very own luxury retreat. The tranquil vibe of the island appeals to those seeking peaceful days on the beach; it certainly isn’t geared up for adrenaline junkies or shopaholics! The most popular of these beaches is Macaroni Beach on the east coast – within easy reach of any of our Mustique villas for the perfect vacation.
