INTRODUCTION
In the same chain of islands as Anguilla and about 25 miles further south, Saint Barthélemy (also known as St. Barths) could not be more different in terms of its geology. Its volcanic mass rises to nearly 1000ft at its peak affording many of our luxury villas in St. Barths the most spectacular views.
The capital Gustavia is a lively and pretty place with yachts diving in and out of the harbour all day; it’s easy to lose an hour or three watching the human traffic over a long coffee or glass of wine whilst relaxing in one of our St Barths villas. With a Swedish name, a huge British anchor on the dockside, and a Hispanic-looking church, Gustavia sounds like the archetypal Caribbean confection, yet it has an unmistakably French flavour. The finest designer boutiques line the harbour, gourmet restaurants serve up Gallic specialties, and French is the spoken language. This makes for an atmosphere closer to St. Tropez than to Trinidad!
On the north side of the island, Atlantic waves pound the beaches making them popular with surfers but less suitable for swimmers. For bathing head to the south where the immaculate white sands are lapped by gentle azure waters. Be sure to discover the Anse du Grand Saline where you can justly marvel at one of the most beautiful beaches in the Caribbean, unmissable for anyone seeking luxury villas in St Barths. For the more active, Saint Barthélemy provides kitesurfing, windsurfing, sailing, diving, volleyball, waterskiing, horse riding and deep sea fishing; just some of the ways to burn off your energy after a long lunch by the surf.
