VILLA DETAILS

With origins dating back to the turn of the century, La Bastide de Routas has been recently renovated to provide accommodation of an exceptionally high standard. The Provençal country kitchen is fully equipped and provides an open invitation to those who want to try their hand at French cuisine; living rooms are styled in a comfortable, contemporary fashion, with plenty of space to gather for a post dinner digestif in front of one of the grand open fireplaces, season permitting.  Bedrooms are set over the first and second floor and - with the exception of the master room, which comes with private terrace and separate dressing room - are comparable in size and appeal, all with individual en-suite bathrooms, luxury toiletries, TV and iPod docking stations. An elevator is available as an alternative to the stairs. A games/TV room is located on the ground floor, with Sky Sports and Movies and DVD library provided. For those preferring a larger screen, a fully-equipped cinema room with wide, reclining seats is just the place to relax in front of one of the many classic movies available on the in-house library. Outdoors, several shaded terraces provide plenty of opportunity for collective dining al fresco, whilst the swimming pool, 4 bikes and miles of private pathway to discover will ensure that guests have plenty to do without wandering far!

Some 250m from the main house, a ‘Bergerie’ (3 bedrooms), with private pool, and also a 2 bedroom ‘Guest House’ are available on request in addition to the main house. The Bergerie and Guest House are more simple in style when compared to the main house, though perfectly acceptable and they make an ideal option for those travelling in larger groups or for guests preferring some independence and privacy.

Major credit cards are widely accepted here (though a limited number of merchants have American Express accounts) and ATM access is widespread. TIPPING SUGGESTIONS

Tips in restaurants are usually added on at 10/15% of the bill. However, it is often a subject of controversy whether this amount actually goes to the waiter or not, therefore it is your choice whether to tip more.

ARRIVAL & DEPARTURE FORMALITIES

Travel documents are your responsibility. In general you should have:

  • A signed, valid passport that will remain valid for at least 6 months beyond the completion of your trip. Your passport must have enough blank pages (excluding amendment pages) available for entry and exit stamps issued when entering and exiting immigration points.
  • Visas are required for certain nationalities and you are strongly advised to check your status allowing plenty of time for visa application.

WEATHER

Due to its favourable climate and geography Côte d'Azur has an average of 300 sunny days, an average temperature of 16°C and short but periodical rain-showers. During summer it can be very hot with an average temperature of 27ºC and about 11 hours of sun a day. The average water temperature in the summer months is about 20ºC. In autumn and spring you can rely on warm weather as well. With around 8 hours of sun per day, these seasons are quite mild as well. By the Mediterranean climate the winters are pleasant.

HEALTH

It is advisable to contact your doctor before you travel if you have any specific health concerns and take out appropriate travel and medical insurance.

ELECTRICITY
