Example tours for families with teenage children, couples or those seeking adventure
Introduction to Glacier Trekking
Your guide will take you on a journey through a glacier with options available in Zermatt and Chamonix and at varying levels of ability. Some trails are more well-trodden than others but your guide will know the higher altitude paths which can provide a private and peaceful journey which you can take at your own pace – be that fast or slow! Enjoy stunning views and a truly unique experience with a true alpine expert.
For those with a head for heights then opt to scale the faces of some rather impressive rock formations with your mountain guides. Don’t be put off by the term mountaineering as trips range from introduction to advanced so there’s something to suit all ability from those new to the sport to those looking for a real challenge, including scaling The Matterhorn! The trained mountain guides are there to ensure everyone gets the most out of their experience.
Available in Zermatt, Via Ferrante is a route which has been pre-laid with cables, ladders and bridges ready for you to trek. The bridges, which are placed along the route is where this activities name is derived (Via Ferrante meaning Iron Road). Again, various routes make this a sport for all abilities but a head for heights is needed. Those attempting this activity are rewarded with awe-inspiring views.
Example activities which can be included in tours for non-climbers
For those who want to use the alpine summer to experience the fresh mountain air and partake in the usual outdoor activities then opt for the following:
Touch the Matterhorn – trek to the Hornli hut with our guides and back and touch the base of the Matterhorn. This is still 3,260 metres above sea level so will burn enough calories to enjoy a hearty supper.
Gorge Adventure – Traverse Gorner Gorge on a network of zip lines, rappels and via ferrata experiencing a range of natural formations including polished rocks and glacial mills. This activity can be completed in a morning or afternoon.
Mountain biking – let your guide introduce you to some of the best mountain bike tracks available at each resort. Each route can be tailored to the group’s specific abilities and requirements.
Canyoning – for those who are more comfortable in water than on land then Canyoning at Barberine is a great family activity. Slide down naturally formed rocks and jump into water pools under the watchful eye of your private guide.
