Chalet M is a luxury ski chalet in Morzine and boasts an enviable position with stunning views over the village and across the valley. Newly built to the highest standards in 2013 Chalet M features luxuriously decorated spaces and the latest technology. Sleeping up to 14 guests in 5 large bedrooms the chalet is perfect for large groups, families or friends wanting to experience some of the finest hospitably the Portes du Soleil has to offer.

Furnished with a blend of classic and contemporary pieces, the chalet is one of the most elegant in the Portes du Soleil. The main living area includes a fabulous fireplace, and in the dining room a bespoke walnut table made by local craftsmen takes pride of place. Lighting was also a key consideration during the design, with pieces selected from Tom Dixon among other leading designers. A multi-zone entertainment system is also present throughout the chalet, with speakers concealed in the walls allowing guests to stream music from their own device. Inspiration has been drawn from some of the Alps? finest residences with materials, furniture and artwork sourced from across the world. Chalet M boasts some of the best spa facilities of any chalet in the Portes du Soleil. The view from the outdoor hot-tub is simply breath-taking, set on the edge of a large terrace overlooking Morzine and the surrounding mountains. Inside there is a large sauna with adjacent drench shower, as well as a dedicated massage and treatment room where you can enjoy the services of the in-chalet therapists - the perfect sanctuary for relaxation. A dedicated cinema and games room with a High Definition 3D screen and Digital Surround Sound is the perfect place to unwind after a day on the mountain. As well as a wide choice of movies you?ll find a Playstation3, large comfy sofas for lounging on and a collection of books and board games to keep everyone amused. Located in a central but elevated position on the North side of Morzine, the location commands fantastic views and glorious sunshine. The lifts can be reached in just a few minutes and the centre of town is less than 1km away.

Activities in Portes du Soleil

Bowling Alley

  • A great activity to do after being on the slopes or if you have non-skiers with you it’s a mildly energetic activity for during the day

Cinema

  • You can catch up on the latest films here. On bad weather days you will find they open their doors early so you can hide out.

Helicopter rides

  • Being able to sit back, relax and take photos of the top of the mountains is not something that many get to do. The views of the snow topped Alps could be a tick off your bucket list.

Ice skating

  • As the skating rink is indoor you could use this as way to get those leg muscles burning on bad weather days.

Parapenting

  • Otherwise known as paragliding to the rest of the world this is a unique way to see the Alps and the views of the valley without really doing much at all.

Snowshoe walking

  • Perfect to do in bad weather or for non-skiers, it is a fantastic way to see the mountains and to get out and enjoy the snow.

Husky sledging

  • Being in charge of your own team of excitable dogs, flying down the forest paths following your guide, a very active couple of hours for an afternoon off the piste.

Hot-Air Ballooning

  • A truly unique experience, the views are stunning and it is such a surreal way to see the mountains. A must do here is Morzine

Ice diving

  • Take the plunge into the icy cold waters of the Lake. Get to explore the depths of the water and the ice formations. A strange underwater adventure that shouldn’t be missed.

Nightlife

  • With many cosmopolitan bars and clubs to choose from, you can keep your après going way into the early hours of the morning.

The official currency is the Euro (€). Coins are available in 1 cent, 2 cent, 5 cent, 10 cent, 20 cent, 50, cent, €1 & €2 denominations. Notes are available in €5, €10, €20, €50, €100, €200, €500 denominations.

MONEY MATTERS
Travellers cheques are widely accepted for exchange or purchase in major cities, but in more rural areas, visit a bank to exchange them for Euros. Major credit cards are widely accepted here and ATM access is widespread. Exchange currency only at authorized outlets such as banks and hotels, and exchange only what you think you will spend in the country. Coins cannot be reconverted on departure. Save all receipts from any currency exchange transaction. You may be asked to produce them when you exit the country, and they are required if you intend to reconvert local currency.

TIPPING SUGGESTIONS
In restaurants a service charge is built into menu prices. However, it's customary to round up amounts when paying the waiter or waitress if you're happy with the service. This means that you might hand the server EUR 50 for a EUR 47 meal. If you're paying by credit card, hand the server a cash tip of up to 5%. For Taxis as in restaurants, round up or add 5% when you're happy with the service. Tips to your chalet staff are entirely at your discretion.

ARRIVAL AND DEPARTURE FORMALITIES
Travel documents are your responsibility. In general you should have: a signed, valid passport that will remain valid for at least 6 months beyond the completion of your trip. Your passport must have enough blank pages (excluding amendment pages) available for entry and exit stamps issued when entering and exiting immigration points. Visas are required for certain nationalities and you are strongly advised to check your status allowing plenty of time for visa application.

WEATHER
The alpine climate is cold and visitors should wear warm, waterproof clothing at all times when outdoors during the winter. Hats and gloves are also essential to prevent frostbite. Sunglasses or ski goggles are also necessary to reduce the glare of the sun on the snow.

HEALTH
It is advisable to contact your doctor before you travel if you have any specific health concerns and imperative to take out appropriate travel and medical insurance. Winter sports involve a high degree of risk and you should be in good health and carry adequate medical insurance in case of winter sports accident, including cover for air ambulance.

The villa
