Crans Montana | Bedrooms: 5 | Sleeps: 10

Rates: Rates available on request.

Recently completed, the spectacular Chalet du Bonheur nestles in a forested enclave close to the centre of Crans Montana. Built using traditional wooden timbers and natural stones the chalet has been elegantly furnished. The Scandinavian owners have created a masterpiece in modern contemporary alpine chic.

The chalet nestles in its own grounds on the edge of woodland close to the centre of the village affording the property a high degree of privacy and convenience. The centre of the village and main lifts are only a couple of minutes’ drive away.

This luxurious free-standing chalet is set out over three floors, sleeping a total of ten guests in five bedrooms.

You enter the chalet on the ground floor where the Spa area is housed. This includes a small gym, sauna and hammam. Doors lead out onto the terrace and garden where a large hot tub is located surrounded by the forest.

The Spa area has a bathroom with guest W.C. and shower which is shared with the bunk bedroom also located on this floor. In addition the laundry room and the garage with ski racks and boot heaters are also on the ground floor.

Stairs lead to the middle floor of the property where the chic and sophisticated open plan living and dining area is situated. Doors open onto the surrounding balcony where the outside dining area is the perfect place to enjoy the winter sun. The living area has an open fire and the double height ceiling allows light to flood in. A TV room is located off of the living room and can be closed off so the children can enjoy their favourite movie while the adults enjoy pre-dinner canapés and a glass of champagne in front of the roaring fire. The open plan kitchen is well equipped.

The middle floor also houses a guest toilet and double bedroom with en-suite shower room.

Three further double bedrooms, all with en-suite facilities are located on the top floor of the chalet. The individually designed master bedroom has a separate shower and bath as well as a wood burning fireplace and wonderful balcony. The two further bedrooms also have balconies and flat screen TV's, one has an en-suite bathroom and one has an en-suite shower room.

The property is sold either on a catered or self-catered basis. On a catered basis the chalet normally comes with dedicated driver and vehicle unless otherwise agreed with at point of booking. Food and alcohol is an additional charge plus 10%.

Winter Walking - There are 63km of designated paths for walking and with varying levels of difficulty there is a way for everyone – even non-skiers - to get out on to the mountain. There are five different snowshoe routes totalling 15km through the forests, around the lakes and marked out over the golf course. A great way to take in the winter alpine atmosphere

Snow Tubing - The track for tubing is on the golf course in resort

Ice Skating - There is an outdoor Ice Rink for evening skating and if you want to try your hand at something new there is also curling too

Swimming - Within the resort there are eight public indoor pools, a heated salt water pool and also nine wellness centres. All are based in hotels

Shopping - Packed high to the rafters with high quality boutiques, there isn’t a Swiss watch brand or designer fashion brand that you could think of that isn’t already there

CHF (Swiss Francs)

Travellers cheques are widely accepted for exchange or purchase in major cities, but in more rural areas, visit a bank to exchange them for Euros. Major credit cards are widely accepted here and ATM access is widespread. Exchange currency only at authorized outlets such as banks and hotels, and exchange only what you think you will spend in the country. Coins cannot be reconverted on departure. Save all receipts from any currency exchange transaction. You may be asked to produce them when you exit the country, and they are required if you intend to reconvert local currency.

In restaurants a service charge is built into menu prices. However, it's customary to round up amounts when paying the waiter or waitress if you're happy with the service. This means that you might hand the server CHF 50 for a CHF 47 meal. If you're paying by credit card, hand the server a cash tip of up to 5%. For Taxis as in restaurants, round up or add 5% when you're happy with the service. Tips to your chalet staff are entirely at your discretion.

Travel documents are your responsibility. In general you should have: a signed, valid passport that will remain valid for at least 6 months beyond the completion of your trip. Your passport must have enough blank pages (excluding amendment pages) available for entry and exit stamps issued when entering and exiting immigration points. Visas are required for certain nationalities and you are strongly advised to check your status allowing plenty of time for visa application. EU nationals are only required to hold a valid national ID card.

Switzerland's winter temperature range is -2 °C (28 °F) to 7 °C (45 °F), with the snow remaining in the Alps until around April. The alpine climate is cold and visitors should wear warm, waterproof clothing at all times when outdoors during the winter. Hats and gloves are also essential to prevent frostbite. Sunglasses or ski goggles are also necessary to reduce the glare of the sun on the snow.

It is advisable to contact your doctor before you travel if you have any specific health concerns and imperative to take out appropriate travel and medical insurance. Winter sports involve a high degree of risk and you should be in good health and carry adequate medical insurance in case of winter sports accident, including cover for air ambulance.

Electrical service in Switzerland is supplied at 220-240 volts/50 hertz.

Of course, if you don't need to use a motorway you don't need to pay, although it's difficult to cross the country without doing so.You can for example buy them in Switzerland from customs offices at the frontier or service stations, garages and post offices.
