Positioned in a wonderfully panoramic setting in its own olive grove and gardens, with mountain and sea views, this exceptional property is within short distance to the charmingly beautiful village centre of Deia, itself one of Mallorca's great highlights.
With a variety of entertainment options for the youngsters as well as a gated pool area and dedicated children's bedroom on the top floor, Villa Oliva is the ideal choice for an unforgettable family holiday in this much-celebrated stretch of the island's coastline.

Warm furnishing in neutral colours, carefully selected antiques, beamed ceilings and terracotta floors all add to the relaxed vibe of the villa's spacious interior. Outside terraces are well-positioned to capture mountain and sea views and provide opportunity for al fresco meals throughout the day. The villa is particularly suited to families: indoors the second floor is solely dedicated to a children's dormitory with up to five single beds, a TV and PlayStation 3 console; while outside table tennis and a football table will keep little ones (and some bigger ones!) entertained for hours. We love the elevated and gated pool area with a 12m long sparkling centrepiece (heated on request) next to a well-equipped summer kitchen and shaded lounge suite, all of which allowing children to play safely and parents to unwind with their minds at ease. Whilst the property offers plenty of reasons to stay onsite, both the sea and mountains are on hand to provide an array of outdoor activities for cyclists, hikers and ramblers alike. If a refreshing dip into the Mediterranean waters is what you long for, simply head down to Deia's only pebble beach and whilst there, treat yourself to a glass of rosé and some tapas in the ultra-popular Ca's Patro March bars and restaurant (pre-bookings highly recommended).

VILLA ACCOMMODATION

Ground Floor

  • Spacious and fully-equipped kitchen with NEFF appliances, two dishwashers and ovens as well as a breakfast area seating 10 guests. Window doors lead out onto one of the many terraces.
  • Covered "casita" with cosy seating and al fresco dining table for 14 guests. The casita opens up onto a spacious sun terrace with fountain feature, spectacular views over Deia and the sea, and with further dining facilities for up to 14 guests.
  • Cosy lounge with decorative fireplace, comfortable sofas, Apple TV and a MAC computer for guests to use at the provided desk. Doors to terrace.
  • Bedroom 1 with 1.60m bed and en suite shower room.
  • Guest WC and laundry room with washing machine and dryer.

First Floor

  • Bedroom 2 with two single beds (0.90m each).
  • Bedroom 3 with Mallorcan-style four-poster bed (1.80m), sharing a shower room with Bedroom 2.
  • Bedroom 4 Spacious Master bedroom with four-poster bed (1.80m) and en suite shower room and internal spiral staircase down to terrace.
  • Bedroom 5 with four-poster bed (1.80m), walk-in wardrobe, en-suite shower room and private terrace with beautiful sea views. Additional access from the ground floor terrace via external staircase.

Second Floor - Suitable for children aged 12 years or younger.

  • Bedroom 6 with up to five single beds (0.90x1.80m each) and en suite bathroom, TV and PlayStation3 (please bring own children games). We’d like to make you aware that the room has a partially low ceiling and therefore the occupancy is restricted to children aged 12 years or younger.

Kindly Notes

  • Young children require constant supervision on the terraced grounds of this hillside property. There is also a pond on one of the terraces and young children shouldn’t be left unsupervised in this area.
  • Smoking is not allowed inside the property.
  • Please note that the rentals are from Friday to Friday.

Currency Information

The Euro (€) is the official currency of Majorca. Coins are available in 1 cent, 2 cent, 5 cent, 10 cent, 20 cent, 50, cent , €1 & €2 denominations. Notes are available in €5, €10, €20, €50, €100, €200, €500 denominations.

Money Matters

Travellers cheques are widely accepted for exchange or purchase in major cities, but in more rural areas, visit a bank to exchange them for Euros. Major credit cards are widely accepted here (though a limited number of merchants have American Express accounts) and ATM access is widespread.
Exchange currency only at authorized outlets such as banks and hotels, and exchange only what you think you will spend in-country. Coins cannot be reconverted on departure.  
Save all receipts from any currency exchange transaction. You may be asked to produce them when you exit the country, and they are required if you intend to reconvert local currency.

Tipping in Majorca

The Spaniards are fairly relaxed about tipping etiquette. However service is not usually included in restaurants and it is common practice to leave the spare change, or up to 10% of the total in a smarter restaurant. Taxi drivers and bartenders may be tipped less. Many petrol stations are not self service, however it is not usual to tip the station attendant.

Arrival & Departure Formalities

Travel documents are your responsibility. In general you should have:

  • A signed, valid passport that will remain valid for at least 6 months beyond the completion of your trip. Your passport must have enough blank pages (excluding amendment pages) available for entry and exit stamps issued when entering and exiting immigration points.
  • Visas are required for certain nationalities and you are strongly advised to check your status allowing plenty of time for visa application.

Weather in Majorca

During the summer months the islands typically has 11 hours of sunshine each day, average temperature topping 29ºC as well as virtually no rain. Spring's and autumn's temperatures range from 22ºC-28ºC and the region's sunshine is still between 8-10 hours a day. The weather can be unpredictable and much more changeable, with the night-time temperature dropping quite dramatically. The winter brings average temperatures dropping to a cooler 15ºC, and 5 hours of sunshine a day. 

Health considerations

It is advisable to contact your doctor before you travel if you have any specific health concerns and take out appropriate travel and medical insurance.

Electricity supply in Majorca

Electrical service in Spain, including Majorca, is supplied at 220-240 volts/50 hertz – a converter/adaptor may be required.

Driving in Majorca

  • No right-hand turn on a red light.
  • Traffic from the RIGHT has right of way.
  • Passport or national ID as well as driver's license,insurance papers and ownership papers must be carried all the time.
  • An international driving licence is not required for European citizens. Your locally issued driving licence, as long as it is accompanied by the passport, will suffice.
  • National speed limit is 50km (31mph) in towns, 90km (56mph) on secondary non-urban highways (carretera secundaria), 100km (62mph) on dual carriageways (carretera/autovia), 120km (75mph) on motorways (autopista). Speeding fines: 30 – 300 Euros.
  • Minimum driving age is 18.
  • For use of the highways (autopista) it is often necessary to pay a toll before access. Prices vary and are calculated by the distance of the journey. 
  • There are strict laws concerning drinking and driving. Blood alcohol levels must not exceed 0,05%. There are random breathalyser tests carried out regularly by the police.

Location

Villa Oliva is one of four houses located in a hillside hamlet in S'Empletada approx. 1.5km outside of Deia’s village centre (approx. 20-25mins walk from the villa to cafés, restaurants and shops). Within a 10-min drive you’ll find Deia’s small pebble beach with the ultra-popular beach bar/restaurant “Ca’s Patro March”. The nearest sandy beaches are in Port de Soller, approx. 14km from the villa. The island’s capital Palma and its airport can be reached in approx. 35km. Other popular mountain destinations like Soller or Valldemossa are 20-mins away by car.

We'd like to make you aware that occasionally some unobtrusive seasonal road noise can be experienced at the front of the property due to its uphill location from the winding village road (with one lane for each direction) .

Availability Information

  • Villa Oliva is rented on a Friday to Friday basis throughout the year. However, shorter breaks and alternative arrival days might be available outside the High Season.
  • There may be some variations on the above dates at selected villas, details of which can be provided by your Abercrombie & Kent Villas Consultant.

  • Extra maid service available on request at EUR 20/hour.

  • Please note that a tourist tax may apply for your villa rental on Mallorca, in which case it will be collected locally on your arrival by a villa staff member. The standard rate in High Season for adults aged 16 or over is EUR 1 per person per night (1-9 nights) and EUR 0.50 per person for any additional night (10% VAT applies).
