Thanksgiving in Tuscany

Thanksgiving is the ideal opportunity to spend that most precious of commodities: time. Time with family, time with friends and perhaps even a moment of quiet contemplation on your own, curled up by a roaring log fire. Our Italian villas provide a haven of peace where you can surround yourselves with your nearest and dearest with the backdrop of the russets, reds and golds of the Tuscan hills in Fall.

Of course, no Thanksgiving would be complete without a celebratory meal and our Tuscan chefs provide the solution to the inevitable questions of who will cook and clear away! Our Tuscan chefs can tailor your Thanksgiving Day meal to suit your taste and appetite. The following suggested menu has been designed by one of our best chefs, Leonardo. It represents the best of Tuscan fare in November, when chestnuts and truffles are in abundance.

Antipasti
Cucuzza di salse calde di porcini e cacciagione con bruschette e polenta
(Small fondue with hot Porcini Mushroom and Game sauces, served with Bruschetta and Polenta)

Frittino Toscano
(Fried Sage)

Salumi di Cinta
(Mix of Cinta Pork Cold Cuts)

First Course
Pappardelle fatte in casa con lepre
(Hand made Pappardelle with Hare)
OR
Zuppa di porcini con quadrati di pane con olio e rosmarino
(Porcini Mushroom Soup with Olive Oil and Rosemary Croutons)

Second Course
Tacchino disossato ripieno con tartufo bianco, pancetta e patate e salsa di tartufo con contorno di sformato di rape
(Turkey with White Truffle, Bacon and Potatoes and Truffle sauce with side dish of Turnip Pie )

Dessert
Tortino al Cioccolato con salsa d’arancio caramellato e castagnaccio
(Small Chocolate pie with sugar-coated Orange and Castagnaccio - a local dessert made of chestnut flour, nuts, pine kernel, raisins and rosemary)
