Food & Fiesta in Andalucía

Rough mountain ranges reaching down to a sun-spoilt coast - Andalucía is a region of beautiful landscapes, rich culture and deeply rooted traditions. Often associated with being quintessentially Spanish, the cuisine of Andalucía combines the best features of its Roman and Arab heritage. In fact, the food typically consumed in this part of the world, known as the Mediterranean Diet, was recognized by UNESCO to be part of the Cultural Heritage of Spain.

Celebrating the vast culinary possibilities in Andalucía, La Maroma Estate organizes mouth-watering experiences for all gourmets.

Paella Cooking Courses

One of the region's most popular delicacies is paella. This dish originally comes from Valencia, but can be found on the menu of many restaurants in Andalucía, as rice is grown in the Guadalquivir valley. Different variations of paella exist in Spain; the most common are prepared with seafood or meat, rice and beans, and seasoned with saffron and rosemary. Get to know Spain's national dish in a unique way by visiting the covered market in Malaga, followed by a paella cooking course at the villa.

Flamenco and Spanish Guitar

It is hard to imagine a warm summer night in Andalucía without the sound of a Spanish guitar and the image of a flamenco dancer turning to the music. Every dancer's performance is accompanied by the familiar handclapping and finger snapping, encouraging them to shine. The dance has become so popular around the world that Japan is currently home to more flamenco schools than Spain. When in Andalucía, a seven-course meal followed by a flamenco performance at your private villa is a must.

Taste Olives at a local Mill

Olive groves are a typical sight in the Andalucían landscape. The fruit of these trees, with some of them being more than a hundred years old, has been known for centuries as a popular ingredient in beauty treatments and its oil was considered to be sacred. Delve into the taste of Andalucía's culinary highlights, while taking in the smell of rosemary and thyme in the warm summer air.

Alternatively, we suggest wine tastings with a professional sommelier, seafood beach cooking sessions, visits to Granada with the Alhambra...the possibilities are endless. Contact a travel consultant to get the best tips and ideas for your next trip to Andalucía.
