About Lot

Lot’s outstanding heritage and proximity to the ancient vineyards of the Dordogne mean it’s fast gaining a reputation with international visitors. Yet thankfully not fast enough to spoil its untouched charms. The landscapes here ooze tranquility. Majestic cliffs are dotted with thick forests of ancient green oak, while the glistening Dordogne River carves its way through the region’s northern tip. Guarding this magnificent valley are stately chateaux, fortified towns and quaint French villages. Rocamadour should be at the top of any sightseeing list. This teetering village, built from the same stone as the cliff on which it stands, appears to hauntingly emerge directly from the rock face that surrounds it. From the top the views across the valley of the Ouysse below make it utterly worth the climb. We also recommend visiting the spectacular underground caves of Gouffre de Padirac. Descend into the depths of the Earth via a huge sinkhole, before treading carefully across the creaking wooden platforms that skirt the edges of this water-filled cavern. Sensitively lit, it offers a eerie and atmospheric experience. Then there’s the cuisine! This is one of France’s most renowned locations for truffles, foie gras, chestnuts and walnuts. Our luxury villas in Lot provide an idyllic setting to enjoy a feast you create from this fine local fare. Pick up a selection from a traditional French market or gourmet food store. As you dine on your terrace overlooking the valley, one thing’s for sure – you’ll certainly be happy with your lot!
