About Backstage Chalet
After a day on the slopes, slip into the Backstage Chalet’s pool, press a button and you’ll be hydraulically lifted through the roof to enjoy views of the surrounding mountains. This feat of engineering is possibly the only one of its kind in the world, and sets this remarkable luxury Zermatt chalet apart. It’s just five minutes' walk from the larger Backstage Hotel, situated in a quiet residential district of Zermatt, close to the cable cars.
The chalet is based on an old Valais house from the 1940s, modernised and extended by two storeys. The extension has been constructed using local larch and designed to include large areas of glass, creating a 360 degree panoramic view over the village and the Matterhorn. The roof structure has open gables, and provides an open living, dining and kitchen space, with the fireplace giving the place a cosy atmosphere. At the other end of the room there’s the unique pool, and this opulent Zermatt ski chalet also has it own spa facility, including a sauna.
When it comes to sleeping, Backstage Chalet has five double bedrooms spread over two storeys. Down in the cellar there’s a private home cinema and games room. Right next door is the ski room, with heated ski boot racks and access to a private lift. An exclusive team, led by a hostess, cook and chalet maids, are dedicated to making your stay as perfect as possible.
