About The Cube
The Cube brilliantly combines two architectural styles that couldn't be more opposite: the traditional, centuries old trulli building with its characteristic cone structure and the contemporary glass and raw concrete structure. The result is a truly mesmerizing property full of wonderful surprises!
The Cube is a unique complex of five interconnected Trulli houses recently restored to very high standard. In order to give this traditional building "more space", as the architect puts it, a glass structure was added to one side and now houses its very own olive tree! Indeed it is an ingenious idea as the glass structure unifies the building with the surrounding olive grove, a strong statement that underlines the importance nature has in Puglia. The restoration work did not stop at this! The interior combines a pleasant minimalist atmosphere with luxurious materials, coloured glass and contemporary design pieces with olive wood and warm coloured stones. All the surfaces are exposed: the ceilings display the naked stone, the pipes are laid out externally. The furniture, most of which especially designed for this property and built by local artisans, has been chosen as a neutral and organic complement to the building itself. Located in a 2 hectare farm of olive, fig and fruit trees, red clay and original-old stone walls, enjoy a private 20 m. long salt water swimming pool surrounded by rows of olive trees, a unique cooking space that boasts a quarry-stone barbecue and a wood-burning stone oven. But this is by all means no ordinary BBQ: it is a 9-ton stone, 4meters long and 1.5meters high, transported from a nearby query. The oven? A stone-igloo, perfect to cook pizzas. The Cube is located a mere 5-minute drive from the charming old town of Ostuni and Ceglie Messapica, nested in one of the most picturesque valleys in the region, known for its Trulli houses, the nearby picture-postcard towns of Alberobello, Locorotondo and Martina Franca. Lovely beaches offer stretches of sandy bays and highly recommended WWF natural reserves and a beach oasis.
