About Poggio Del Castagnoli
There can be little more idyllic than life at Poggio del Castagnoli. This luxurious villa in Tuscany is at the heart of Chianti. It’s surrounded by the vineyards responsible for one of the world’s finest wines. Ancient olive groves and lemon trees scent the air. And, from this haven of tranquility, the medieval walls and cotto roof tiles of Castagnoli beckon you from afar.
Built in 1788, Poggio del Castagnoli has been renovated and refurbished to offer the highest levels of comfort. Its interior showcases the features of an idealised country retreat: simple yet luxurious furniture, Tuscan antiques and custom-made wrought iron and upholstered pieces.
The Main House has four bedrooms. The adjacent guest suite, Porcilaia, contains a fifth bedroom and a private living room. All five air-conditioned bedrooms offer plenty of privacy, and there are various sitting areas in which to retreat. The communal areas can comfortably accommodate sociable gatherings, and there’s even a small barn with table tennis and foosball.
Outside, warmed by the Tuscan sun, a spectacular pool is fringed by a black slate walkway and a generous, shaded deck. Beyond this the beautiful gardens offer quintessential views of Chianti’s vineyards and rolling hills. To take it all in, head to any of the many outdoor sitting and dining areas, loggias, terraces and lookouts scattered around the grounds.
There’s only one difficult thing you’ll be asked to do in this Tuscan villa. And that’s to decide where’s best to sip your cocktail as you watch the sun set.
