About La Locanda
La Locanda is a true Tuscan villa. This is not a converted farmhouse or a swanky new build. This is an elegant, original and authentic slice of Tuscany that, from its very first incarnation as an inn, has been constructed to provide a graceful retreat for travellers. Indeed La Locanda in Italian simply means the inn.
This 18th-century building was built in the typical Leopoldino style. Unique to Tuscany this graceful architectural style centres its buildings around the colombaia (dovecote). While La Locanda has been skilfully restored and transformed into an exclusive private retreat, it has remained true to its heritage.
From its hilltop position, the villa dominates the landscape of the Chiana valley, providing incomparable views. Olive groves surround it and an undulating garden encircles it. There are two swimming pools to enjoy here, one indoors with whirlpool and sauna, and the other in the garden, next to the conservatory. This makes the villa a very real option regardless of the season. The conservatory offers warmth in colder weather and air-conditioning makes even the hottest Tuscan days a breeze.
Delightful as it is, La Locanda is also ideally situated to take in the sights. You can quickly reach the main artistic and historical sites of both Tuscany and Umbria: Florence, Siena, San Gimignano, Cortona, Perugia and Assisi.
La Locanda is authentically Tuscan and an ideal base for the perfect Tuscan getaway.
