About Castello Tedite
Castello Tedite is a fairy-tale come true. Overlooking the lush Tiber valley, this fully restored private castle rests imperiously in the mountains between Umbria and Tuscany. Forget your quaint farmhouse Tuscan and Umbrian villas: this is accommodation on a grander scale.
History had taken its toll on the 12th-century castle that once held strong in wars between the Empire and Papacy. Crumbling ruins were all that remained until, using sketches and historical records, it was painstakingly rebuilt, stone by authentic stone.
The resulting 35,000ft2 of glorious castle must be seen to be believed. And lived in to be truly experienced. Eight spacious suites are luxuriously appointed with medieval fireplaces, velvet drapes, Renaissance tapestries, artwork and furniture. The dining room come banqueting hall boasts wooden beams, authentic period artworks, an open fire and an enormous table. Enjoy a digestif as the sun sets over the valley from the rooftop terrace, or relax in the many decadently decorated living areas.
Medieval fantasies have not got in the way of modern luxuries. The lower ground floor plays host to a 15x6.5m swimming pool, a fitness centre and a hammam, and the two outdoor terraces offer stunning views to be savoured while dining or relaxing. Castello Tedite is truly a place to feel like a lord and to act like a lady. Live well, eat well and drink well: that’s what an Italian villa should provide, and we can’t imagine living better than here.
