About Gilling Farm
Set in the Howardian Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, Gilling Farm is the perfect rural idyll to rediscover the good life. The hills lie between the North York Moors National Park, the Yorkshire Wolds and the Vale of York. Originally a cluster of Georgian farm buildings and a granary, the farm has been sympathetically converted with a ‘shabby chic’ vibe.
The solid, farmhouse interiors are all open-pitched ceilings, massive beams and cavernous fireplaces. As a testament to its vastness, Gilling Farmhouse comfortably houses a full-size snooker table with all the requisite cue-room. A hull-shaped, artisan dining table and curved pew benches seat up to 20. Peaceful bedrooms are uniquely styled, featuring leather sleigh beds, roll-top baths and walk-in showers.
In and around the vegetable garden and paddocks, animals – domesticated and otherwise – roam free. The menagerie includes three cats, a dog, horses and free-range chickens. Outside the boundary of the farm grounds – Gilling Farm lies in an expansive 12 hectares – country pursuits can be arranged: fishing, game shooting and mountain biking, accompanied by an expert guide should you wish. A yoga instructor is also at your disposal. The farm’s tennis court is yours if you want to improve your serve ‘n’ volley game. If you feel the call of the surf, the beaches of Whitby, Staithes, Runswick Bay and Saltburn are just an hour away.
