Join your English-speaking driver-guide and private vehicle for a tour of the Siena countryside. Stop in the charming hilltop town of Asciano, famed for its annual white truffle festival. Here you can get a closer insight into local gastronomic heritage with a truffle hunt at a traditional farm. The hunt will take place on an exclusive reserve, one of the few areas in the world where this rare and precious tuber is found, accompanied by an experienced truffle hunter or tartufaio. Set off into the woods in the early morning to observe the skills of specially trained dogs, whose ultra-developed sense of smell locates truffles underground. Please be advised that we cannot guarantee the finding of truffles, as this is a real hunt and truffles are very difficult to locate.
Please note: the cost of the tour does not include that of any truffle found – this will be weighed and charged accordingly, by seasonal prices and quality of truffle. We recommend comfortable shoes due to the uneven paths and hilly terrain. Participants should be in good health.
